Team Volusia is seeking an outgoing, self-motivated and experienced professional to join our team as Manager, Business Development & Research to identify companies to recruit to Volusia County and provide detailed research for the organization. This person will be responsible for aggressively promoting the Greater Daytona Region to corporate CEOs, site selection consultants, real estate brokers and other industry professionals through targeted sales missions/trade shows, communications, and managing projects through the entire site selection process.

In addition, this position requires in-depth experience and knowledge of data compilation through an array of platforms. This role involves developing and implementing research strategies, guiding and monitoring primary data collection, responding to RFPs, and ensuring the timely delivery of research findings.

Under the general direction of the Director of Economic Development, the incumbent manages the city’s economic development programs and is responsible for business attraction, business retention and expansion. The manager will implement strategies and tactics as outlined in the City’s fiscal strategic plan, specifically those outlined in the Economic Prosperity section. The manager, working in conjunction with the Director, will build relations with strategically targeted site selectors, key business sector leadership, decision makers, and with strategic partners and stakeholders.

The Director – Business Development identifies, develops and implements a proactive business development program that includes business retention/expansion and business attraction activities that result in the creation and retention of jobs and increased tax base in Putnam County.

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and directing an effective program of direct outreach, communications, support services and technical problem solving to support the growth of existing Putnam County businesses, support of business recruitment activities and marketing initiatives, and coordination of partner resources to bring business and economic development projects to fruition.

This is a highly responsible, independent professional position focused on policy development and activities related to industry strategic initiatives and historic preservation. The position is responsible for managing the Historic Preservation Challenge Grant Program including, application intake and review, provide liaison and staff support for the Historic Preservation Review Committee, draft agreements and agenda’s for BOCC approval and administer agreements and projects to completion.

Additionally, this position is responsible for outreach and provides lead responsibility for administration and operation of other initiatives and programs as assigned. The principal duties of the position include project management; problem resolution; and development, and implementation of recommendations for strategies to support historic preservation and other industry initiatives. A high level of skill and experience is necessary in managing large stakeholder groups towards a strategic vision and action plan implementation.

Under limited supervision, directs the housing, economic, and community development functions of the City of Palm Bay. Responsible for the supervision and oversight of the Economic Development Division, to include recruitment and attraction of new businesses and the retention and expansion of existing businesses and industries in Palm Bay. Manages and implements economic development initiatives designed to attract industry, create quality jobs, and increase private capital investment in the city. Responsible for overseeing the administration of Business Tax Receipts, passports, and lien searches. Responsible for the supervision and oversight of the Housing & Community Development Division, to include all state and federal housing grant programs, such as SHIP, CDBG, HOME and NSP. Coordinates with department directors and management team to develop and implement long-range goals, strategies and plans of the City of Palm Bay. Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with legislative bodies, key stakeholders, and resource partners to facilitate community and economic development and promote the City’s public policy goals. Reports to the City Manager or designee.

The Taylor County Economic Development Authority (TCDA) in Perry, Florida is searching for an experienced consultant with the background, training, and temperament to drive “a strategic economic development plan that helps facilitate the expansion, recruitment and creation of businesses which grow the county’s long term, ad-valorem tax base and creates/retains permanent, value-added, high-wage jobs in Taylor County adding to the quality of life of its citizens.

Under direction of the Executive Director, the Economic Development Director is responsible for the creation, implementation, and continual improvement of the Economic Development Plan for Lake County. The Economic Development Plan will, at a minimum, focus on the expansion, recruitment and retention of targeted business and industry, support for existing Lake County businesses, identify and support the workforce needs today and of the future, and develop and implement strategies that lead to effective product development. The position must possess a high-level understanding of Lake County’s economic drivers, its assets and the local stakeholders and partners that are critical to the growth of Lake County’s economy. This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

This is professional administrative work responsible for managing activities to support economic and business development opportunities in Tallahassee-Leon County specifically within the identified target industry sectors of Applied Sciences/Innovation and Manufacturing. Manages implementation of the strategic actions identified by the Magnetic Taskforce to conduct business intelligence, identify potential customers, build an entrepreneurial pipeline and promote Tallahassee-Leon County as a location for magnetic technologies companies, and attract new companies and investments. Serves as the Executive Director of the Big Bend Manufacturing Agency (BBMA).

The City of Apopka, Florida, (pop. 55,496) is seeking a highly qualified local government professional to join its leadership team. As one of the fastest growing cities in Florida, Apopka needs a versatile manager experienced in development planning and regulation, community development plans and economic development initiatives. The Community Development Director directs the Building Safety Division and the Planning and Economic Development Division. The Director manages the administration of regulations for new development and redevelopment. Under the general direction of the City Administrator, the Community Development Director provides compliance oversight for the Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Code and Development Design Guidelines. The department further serves as a resource for projects that contribute to economic growth. Work is carried out with considerable independent judgment and initiative.

This is an administrative professional position that assists the Economic Development Director with the implementation of economic development programs for the City of Pensacola, including planning, coordinating, and monitoring programs and projects that are designed to retain existing businesses, attract new businesses, and secure new economic investments.

This position will play a vital role in developing and implementing strategies to promote economic growth, support local businesses, and attract new investment to the City. Administrative support of economic development initiatives is an essential function of this position. Work is performed under the general direction of the Economic Development Director. Work is evaluated through the review of results attained.
