Under direction of the Executive Director, the Economic Development Director is responsible for the creation, implementation, and continual improvement of the Economic Development Plan for Lake County. The Economic Development Plan will, at a minimum, focus on the expansion, recruitment and retention of targeted business and industry, support for existing Lake County businesses, identify and support the workforce needs today and of the future, and develop and implement strategies that lead to effective product development. The position must possess a high-level understanding of Lake County’s economic drivers, its assets and the local stakeholders and partners that are critical to the growth of Lake County’s economy. The position is responsible for developing and implementing programs targeting the growth of Lake County’s existing businesses, while providing oversight to county government in dealing with regulations affecting the relocation or expansion of business and industry in Lake County. The position defines, promotes, and supports strategic corridors to stimulate economic activity. The position is responsible for managing assigned budgets, performing related professional and administrative tasks and other duties as assigned. Reports major activities to Executive Director.

This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or other closely related field.

Requires seven (7) years of progressively responsible related experience.

Though an Economic Development certification or degree is not required, economic development coursework or substantial experience in economic development is required.

Requires a valid Florida Driver’s license.
